My approach to projects
As a freelance copywriter, I only have to answer to myself. Pretty lucky, huh? So I bring that to my work and how I approach the projects I take on. This is great for me, as I love the variety my job brings and it is brilliant for clients, as it usually means I can be more flexible – and, believe it or not, that’s even the case when it comes to cost. Why?
Because I try my best to find a price that works for everyone. I work with different clients, in completely different sectors, who have different budgets. I am so lucky to be able to choose projects that I believe in, so I don’t want something like money to ‘get in the way’. However, I do have those pesky bills to pay (so please don’t ask me to work for free). I want us to work together in harmony – I have the skills you’re looking for and you (hopefully) have a budget to pay me.
My pricing model is more flexible to help ensure that we both get the most from the project.
My business costs are very low, so those will never be a factor for you to consider and I don’t tie you into a long-term contract. Basically, I like to make sure that we’ll make a good team – you like me, I like you and we go merrily on our way to creating something awesome. Ready to get started?
Estimates vs. quotes
‘Estimates’ and ‘quotes’ are different things. When potential new projects crop up, I will sometimes give you a quote – a fixed price for a defined project. I’ll do the agreed work for the price stated. If the work changes then the price will change too.
Sometimes I’ll give you an estimate. An estimate is just that: my best guess at how long I think the work will take. This isn’t fixed and although I will do my very best to deliver a project within the stated amount, there are often unknowns as project scopes frequently change.
The good news is that I am always upfront about costs, so you will never be surprised by my final invoice.
So what do you say – fancy working together on your next project?
